AeroDNS privacy policy

Privacy policy for AeroDNS: Quick DNS Changer and how DNS handling works on-device.

Effective Date: July 24, 2026

VMCSoft ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how official VMCSoft builds of AeroDNS: Quick DNS Changer (the "App") handle DNS processing, diagnostics, and device data.

AeroDNS is open-source software. Its source code is available on GitHub under the Apache License 2.0.

1. The Android VpnService and data handling

The core functionality of AeroDNS relies on Android VpnService. It is important to understand how this works:

  • Local tunneling only: The App creates a local VPN interface on your device to intercept only DNS queries.
  • No remote server: We do not route your browsing, streaming, or downloads through any VMCSoft server.
  • Split tunneling: Only DNS packets are processed. Other traffic bypasses the VPN interface.
  • No query collection: We do not collect, store, log, or transmit your browsing history or DNS queries to our servers.

2. Information collection and use

Personal information

We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, phone number, or location data through the App.

DNS queries

Your DNS queries are sent directly from your device to the DNS provider you select within the App.

  • VMCSoft: We do not see or log those queries.
  • DNS providers: Third-party DNS resolvers may log queries under their own privacy policies, including providers such as Google and Cloudflare.
  • Network visibility: Networks carrying unencrypted standard DNS may be able to observe or modify those queries. Encrypted DNS protects transport to the selected resolver, but the resolver can still process the queries it receives.

Data stored on your device

The App stores your selected resolver, custom resolver configurations, protocol preference, and connection state locally using Android DataStore. Application backup and device transfer are disabled for this data.

Diagnostics and crash information

The App does not include an analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting service. Official release builds remove App logging calls during code shrinking. Debug builds created from the source code may write diagnostic information to Android logcat for development and troubleshooting.

Separately, Android and Google Play may collect diagnostics from users who have enabled usage and diagnostics sharing. Google Play may provide VMCSoft with aggregated or privacy-protected Android vitals, such as:

  • Device model and manufacturer
  • Operating system version
  • Crash and application-not-responding information

This platform-level collection is controlled by Google and the user's Android settings, not by an AeroDNS analytics or crash-reporting SDK. For more information, see Google Play's Android vitals documentation.

3. Third-party services

The App does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that track user behavior across apps and websites. Your selected DNS provider and your app distribution platform may process data under their own privacy policies.

4. Security

Since AeroDNS processes DNS logic locally and does not transmit personal data to us, the security of your information largely depends on your device security and the DNS provider you choose.

Custom DNS-over-HTTPS profiles include an advanced, opt-in setting that disables normal certificate-chain and hostname verification for that profile. It is disabled by default and is not used by built-in providers. Enabling it can expose DNS queries to interception.

5. Data retention and deletion

AeroDNS does not create user accounts or store App data on VMCSoft servers. Locally stored settings remain on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall it. Uninstalling the App removes this local data according to Android's normal application-data behavior.

6. Unofficial and modified builds

Because AeroDNS is open source, third parties may modify and distribute their own builds. This Privacy Policy applies only to official builds distributed by VMCSoft. Other distributors are responsible for describing the behavior and privacy practices of their builds.

7. Children’s privacy

Our services do not address anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Please review this page periodically for any changes.
